Air quality sensors
Intelligent air quality sensors for HVAC systems
Air quality sensors from Belimo, such as CO2 and VOC sensors, guarantee optimal indoor air quality (IAQ), increased comfort, and maximised energy savings in buildings. Multisensors with integrated temperature and humidity measurement are also available.
Features
- A dual-channel CO2 sensor based on NDIR technology. The additional reference channel enables reliable compensation for long-term drifts and temperature drifts, ensuring maximum accuracy and long-term stability.
- Our wide range of combined multisensors for CO2, humidity, temperature, and VOCs offers reduced labour and material costs.
- The dual-channel self-calibration technology enables the use of Belimo CO2 sensors in all buildings and applications, even where the Automatic Background Calibration (ABC) method cannot be used.

Elevate indoor air quality with high-performance HVAC sensors
Air quality sensors play a crucial role in modern HVAC systems, delivering real-time data on indoor environmental conditions to ensure health, comfort, and energy efficiency. Belimo air quality sensors provide accurate, continuous measurement of CO₂, total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), and other environmental parameters such as temperature and humidity — enabling precise control strategies in commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings.
Key benefits of air quality sensors in HVAC
Belimo air quality sensors deliver a range of advantages for building performance and environmental health:
-
Adjusts airflow based on real-time CO₂ and VOC levels, reducing energy waste and enhancing occupant comfort.
-
Supports IAQ standards in schools, hospitals, offices, and public buildings.
-
Maintains ideal CO2 and humidity levels for enhanced cognitive function and well-being.
-
Prevents over-ventilation and associated energy costs by optimising air exchange rates.
-
Output formats include Modbus, BACnet, 0...10 V, and 4...20 mA for plug-and-play use in BMS platforms.
-
Designed with advanced sensing elements and auto-calibration for consistent performance over time.
Typical applications of Belimo IAQ sensors
Belimo air quality sensors support a wide range of HVAC applications, including:
-
Offices, schools, hotels, and retail environments for occupant comfort and energy optimisation.
-
Ensures clean and compliant air in patient rooms, waiting areas, and laboratories.
-
Monitors IAQ in classrooms and auditoriums to promote cognitive performance and health.
-
Forms the backbone of intelligent HVAC systems enabling real-time data-driven control and reporting.
Selecting the right air quality sensor
When selecting an indoor air quality (IAQ) sensor for HVAC systems, consider the following:
-
Choose sensors that monitor CO2, TVOCs, temperature, humidity, or a combination, depending on the application.
Product series:
- CO2
- CO2 + Temperature
- CO2 + Temperature + Humidity
- CO2 + VOC
- CO2 + VOC + Temperature
- CO2 + VOC + Temperature + Mix CO2/VOC
-
Use duct sensors for system-level monitoring and room sensors for zone-based control.
-
Choose ABC sensors when your building has regular fresh air cycles. Use dual-channel sensors when continuous occupancy or low ventilation does not provide that reference.
ABC sensors (Automatic Baseline Correction)
Best for applications where a regular fresh air reference is available (e.g. spaces that are ventilated daily). They automatically adjust to ensure long-term stability and accuracy.Dual-channel sensors
Ideal for applications where a fresh air reference is not guaranteed. These sensors use an internal reference channel within the device to provide reliable and precise measurements, even in continuously occupied spaces. -
Ensure the sensor’s measurement range and precision meet the project’s IAQ requirements.
-
Match analogue or digital output to your BMS or control system.
-
Use housing with appropriate IP ratings for indoor or exposed locations.
