Belimo manufactures actuators for smoke and fire dampers in ventilation and AC systems. Belimo fire and smoke actuators deliver trusted life safety performance in ventilation and AC systems, with a torque range of 18 in-lb to 180 in-lb when operating at 350F.
To ensure life safety, the fire and smoke actuators meet all codes for U.S. commercial buildings. They pass UL 555 & UL 555S at 350ºF and are tested for 30,000 open-closed cycles with approved dampers. Belimo fire and smoke damper actuators exceed UL’s requirement of 20,000 cycles at damper static load.

Free Online Learning of Life Safety Codes and Standards that Govern Fire Dampers
Although life safety codes govern the testing, repair, and replacement of actuated dampers, deferred maintenance is a chronic problem. Many defective life safety dampers remain in the system, inoperable, without knowledge of failures or dampers fastened open. As buildings age and systems degrade, more fires will occur. The number one failure point on old dampers is the actuator.

FSKN Remote Testing Module
A Simple, Cost-Effective Solution for Periodic Life Safety Damper Testing
Belimo’s FSKN remote inspection module allows testing of actuated life safety dampers without the need for costly visual inspections. It meets testing requirements of NFPA 80 and NFPA 105 referenced by the International Building Code (IBC) and integrates seamlessly with Fire Control or Building Automation Systems using BACnet or Modbus communication protocols. Periodic tests can be run from a computer or smartphone, usually within a minute.

Building Code Requirements
Belimo’s FSKN remote inspection module allows testing of actuated life safety dampers without the need for costly visual inspections and meets testing requirements of NFPA 80 and NFPA 105 referenced by the International Building Code (IBC). The module initiates damper cycling and verifies the damper position to ensure proper emergency operation. The FSKN connects to Fire Alarm panels or Building Automation Systems using BACnet or Modbus communication protocols. The FSKN opens its normally closed relay contact upon the command to test. The damper springs close. The position indication switches verify correct open and closed positions. The FSKN then recloses its contact, and a Pass or Fail message is available for the BACnet controller to read. The smoke detector and/or high-temperature limit are always in the circuit and are never bypassed.
